Bangalore Techie Bharat Bhushan Shot Dead in Front of Family in Chilling Pahalgam Attack

As the bodies of the dastardly Pahalgam terror attack return to different parts of the country, it is the same story everywhere: ordinary citizens who were on a holiday to what is called the paradise of India, killed in cold blood.

The stories are the same: terrorists checked the IDS, confirmed that the victims were Hindus, and shot them.

One such victim was Bharat Bhushan, a resident of Bengaluru who was visiting the hill resort with his wife and kids.

The terrorist accosted the couple, asked for his Aadhaar card, and after confirming that he was a Hindu, shot him point-blank in front of his wife Sujatha and their three-year-old son.

Bharat Bhushan, a 41-year-old software professional from Bangalore, had recently quit his job to actively manage his family’s diagnostic centre in Mathikere, in western Bangalore.

Bharat Bhushan’s mother-in-law, Vimala, revealed that the couple had gone to Kashmir on April 18 and were scheduled to return on April 23.

A teary-eyed Vimala recalled that her daughter, who is an IT professional, called her and informed her of the dreadful news.

Her daughter recounted on the phone how the terrorists checked the Aadhaar cards and enquired whether they were Hindu or Muslim.

Bhushan, who was holding the couple’s baby, was instructed to place the child on the ground before being shot in the head.

The terrorists also made it clear that they would spare the Muslims and kill the Hindus. Vimala also stated that the terrorists continued shooting for three minutes to make sure that the victim was dead.

The couple was scheduled to return home after boarding a flight at 7:30 AM, but now they will be returning with Bhushan’s body in a coffin.

According to reports, the terrorists stated that they would not kill women or children, and only the men would be killed.

Bharat Bhushan’s neighbours were also overcome with guilt because they had been to Kashmir and said that everything was peaceful.

It is on their recommendation that the couple decided to visit Pahalgam.

Local Bangalore South BJP MP Tejasvi Surya wrote on X:

“Just now spoke with Mrs. Sujata, a resident of Mathikere, Bengaluru. Her husband Bharath Bhushan was shot dead earlier today in the terror attack. She and her 3-year-old son have survived. Coordinated with local administration for their safe stay at Anantnag. They and other families will be safely transported to Bengaluru as soon as possible.”
