Residents in several central and south-central areas of Bengaluru will experience power outages on Thursday. The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) is carrying out scheduled maintenance.
The company stated that this temporary shutdown is necessary to ensure the long-term reliability and stability of the city’s power network. Residents in affected areas are urged to make appropriate arrangements in advance.
According to BESCOM this outage will affect Wilson Garden, Hombegowda Nagar, Shantinagar, Sampangi Nagar, JC Road, BTS Road, Richmond Circle, Residency Road, Sudhamnagar, KH Road, Subbaiah Circle, Siddaiah Road, Lalbagh Road, Double Road and surrounding areas.
Power supply is expected to be disrupted in these areas during the maintenance work. Furthermore residents have been advised to plan their essential activities accordingly.
This announcement comes amid growing public concern about electrical safety following a recent fire at a Greater Bengaluru Authority commercial complex.
The fire suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit prompted a swift rescue operation. Emergency teams rescued two people safely. Authorities cut off the building’s power supply pending a thorough investigation.
In light of such incidents officials have advised residents to keep essential devices like flashlights and mobile phones fully charged. Handle electrical appliances carefully when power returns as sudden surges can pose a potential danger.
BESCOM has assured that updates regarding the progress of maintenance work and any changes to the outage schedule will be provided promptly. The good news is that the city’s weather is expected to remain calm and pleasant throughout the week.
It’s expected to be partly cloudy with temperatures ranging from 28-29°C during the day to 18-20°C at night. A mild morning comfortable evening and light rain are expected to bring some relief to residents. People should be prepared for widespread power outages, albeit brief.
